WELLINGTON CITY OBSERVATORY

The "Wellington City Observatory has been engaged twice this year for, the Wellington Training College, but unfortunately the weather has prevented the students taking advantage of the facilities available at the Observatory for becoming familiar with the science of Astronomy. The Observatory is open to the public to-night, if the weather is suitable, and the lecture will be on "The Possibility of Life on the Moon." Last season tills proved to be a very popular lecture, and visitors may expect two new features in the talk around the telescope. The moon through the 9-inch telescope at Kelburn is seen to good advantage. During the period of waxing moon, the craters and mountain ranges are thrown into clearcut relief, while at full moon the ray systems shine out in all their splendour. To-night the moon will show both these features.

The Observatory is accessible by means of the Kelburn cable car. The doors open at 7.30, and a small charge is made for admission.
