A NEW MANAGER

AUCKLAND, This Day.

Mr. H, M. Didsbury, who is retiring from his position as Auckland manager of the New Zealand Insurance Company, Ltd., at the end of- the month, was presented with a combination oak bookcase and writing cabinet in Auckland on Tuesday. Mrs. Didsbury was also presented with an electric reading lamp. In making the presentations ■on behali of members of the Auckland Fire and Accident Underwriters' Association, Mr. H. V. Tregear, chairman of the association, referred to Mr. Didsbury's long experience in tho insurance profession, and said he had; displayed untiring energy in the interests of the Auckland association, and also in the interests of policy-holders.. He was singularly gifted as regards new. and conservative ideas, and many portions of the association's present agreements had emanated from-, him.

In succession to Mr. Didsbury, Mr. H. W. Kelly has been appointed Auckland manager of the .New Zealand Insurance Company, and will take up his new duties officially next week. Mr. Kelly was born at Mangonui, North Auckland, 56 years ago. He was educated lat Napier and joined the staff of the I company there in 1889. He was in the Wellington office for some time, and in 1911 was appointed manager of the company's Wanganui branch. In 1920 he was transferred to Dunedin as manager, and in 1923 was appointed manager of the Melbourne branch. While holding this position lie was also controlling officer for the company in Australia. In his younger days Mr. Kelly was an enthusiastic .Rugby footballer, and represented Wellington, for several years For some time he held the record for the number of interprovineial games played by a Wellington representative, and he was captain of the team in most of their matches. His playing career, ended in 1903, but later ho was a member of the Management Committee of, the New Zealand Bugby Union* After the Dominion tour of Harding's AngloWelsjimen, Mr. .Kelly accompanied the team to Australia as representative of the New Zealand Union.
