COMPULSORY CONFERENCE
BAVIN SAYS MINES MUST BE
OPENED
SYDNEY, Ist November. . A compulsory conference of parties to the coal dispute will be held on Wednesday under tho chairmanship of Mr. Hibble, J.P., who has had long experience of coal disputes and who has figured in a number of 'strike sottlements. \ Another development to-day is the announcement that the Bavin Government may take over a number of coalmines in the event of Mr. nibble's activities proving, abortive, aud reopen them, but whether by union or free labour is not yet disclosed. Mr. Bavin stated that a number of industries wore in a parlous condition, and the mines must be opened very soon to avert the disaster which threatened them.
