The twentieth' annual meeting of the Dominion draught congress was opened at Dannevirko on Good Friday by the Hon. E. A. Ransom, Minister of Public Works. Three competitors at the first New Zealand congress in Wanganui, Messrs. Lyon and Gibson (Marton) and Brueo (New Plymouth) are taking part.

At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Draughts Association, the report stated that there was evidence of a distinct revival of. interest in the game throughout the Dominion, and a more friendly feeling now existed between tho Dominion and Australian Draughts Associations.

Tho following, oiliecrs were elected: Patron; Sir Robert Stout; president, Mr. E. Gibbard (Danncvirke); vice-presi-dents, Messrs. F. K. Rolling '(Wellington), -G. A. Brown (Christchurch), F. Hutching (Invereargill), and W. Davis (Stratford); general executive, Messrs. .t. Beecot, P. C.' Gray, IJ-. Bolting, W. Meldrum/ R. Muir, P. Peterson, W. Tibbies, W; B. Randall, W. dually (Dnnedin), .T. O'Neill (Waitaki), J. liruco (New Plymouth), D. Caldorwood (Hamilton). '

The next Dominion tourney will be hold at Invereargill.

The result of the championship games to date are: — ■

G. A. Brown (Dominion champion), 2 wins, two pairs.

D. Calderwood, 2 wins, 1 draw G. Gilhooly, 0 wins, 2 draws. F. SiTjbard, 0 wins, 1 draw.

Great interest was centred in the game between. Brown and Caldorwood. Tho "Bristol Lassie came from the liallot, and the champion, adopted the 30.15 line. ' Jiv the early stages Brown .strongly attacked, but Calderwood, by introducing a brilliant gambit, gained the upper hand, and tho former had to exercise all his ingenuity to stave off defeat. After three and a-half hours, tho game ended in a draw.
