John Wilson, alias Pauru Henare, alias Henry Joseph Wilson, a labourer, aged 37, appeared on remand oh a charge ofiiaving been found unlawfully in a stable in Egmont street. He was convicted and discharged.

Samuel M'Shane, a tailor, aged 57, pleaded not guilty to a charge of having stolen £2 belonging to Lou Kew. The Chinese said he was surei the man ho saw taking money from his till was the accused. Evidence for the defence was called to the effect that M'Shane had been with his married daughter for tlie best part of each day during tho past six weeks. M'Shane, who had previous qonvictions, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment.
