Bcprcsehtatives of the district local bodies are meeting in conference to-day to discuss the- proposals of the- Mana-ivatu-Oroua Eivcr Boaa-d for the protection of tho adjacent lands from damage- by flooding. .The scheme for protection works will be placed before tho conference. The chairman. Mr. Carter, said that he thought that they would be justified in asking for Government assistance.
