WAR RELIEF
WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION
The War Belief Association of Wellington, met to-day, Mr. A. M'lntosh presiding. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs. L. 0. H. Tripp, S. J. Harrison, and G. Shirteliffe. The Applications- Committee reported that it had received 273 applications since the last meeting oil 14th December, 1928. The applications included 42 new claims, and 231 old claims. The Emergency Committee reported that it had disposed of 114 claims. There wero G5 applications under action. The total number of applications received, including those submitted to the Finance Committee, amounted to 282. Since, the last meeting 249 persons had called at the office. Direct assistance was asked for by 252 persons, and indirect assistance by "7 persons. The executive reported that there had boon no alteration in the general activities of the committee, assistance differing widely in description had been given to partially disabled soldiers; to others who were discharged fit and subsequently developed a war disability; to the widowed mothers and widows of soldiers who fell in action; and in other directions that could not be referred to within the limits of a report. The Finance Committeo reported that it had dealt with nine applications since the last meeting. Four of the applications were old ones requiring revision, and the remainder were new applications. The total funds available as at 31st December, 1928, were shown as follows: Investments, £24,500; current accounts, £151 11s; cash in hand, £30. Total, £24,681 11s. Accounts amounting to £259 5s were passed for payment. , .
