SOUTHERN RESORTS

INADEQUATE PUBLICITY

(By Telegraph.)

(Special to ?'The Evening Post.")

DUNEDIN, This Day,

A complaint that the South Island is frequently overlooked when it comes to information being supplied to overseas tourists on their arrival in Auckland and AVellington is made by Mr. E. L. Macassey, a well-known : business man. "It is not only among overseas tourists that lack of knowledge of the South Island is shown," stated Mr. Macassey, "and it is no exaggeration when I say that many Auckland people have an idea that the, southern portion of. New Zealand is nothing less than a frozen zone." He added that it was quite a common belief that snow and exceptional cold were the usual experience here. More should be done by the business.'men of the South. Island to place the claims of this part of the Dominion before overseas tourists on their arrival in Auckland, and also to attract Northerners here on holiday visits. Mr. Macassey.suggested that Otago and Southland, and perhaps Canterbury, might combine to appoint a representative to meet all overseas people in Auckland and to place before them information in regard to Southern attractions.
