ISLAND BAY CLUB The eleventh annual meeting o£ the Island Bay Bowling Club was held this week, Mr. J. A. Conder presiding over a large attendance of members; The annual report and balance-sheet, ?is previously published, were received and adopted. Prospects for the ensuing year were considered to be Wight with promise. Eight new members were elected, and several other nominations' received. Officers for 1928-29 were elected as follow:—President, Mr. J. A. Campbellj vice-president, Mr. J. H. M'Eroy; hon. secretary, Mx. H. P. Clarke; hon. treas-urer,-Mr. H. Dixon; management committee; Messrs. W. J. Churchill, J. A. Conder, .F. A. Earnshaw, J. M. Hale, H. Hobbs, G. W. Key, E. A. Herron, D. Munro, and N. F. Wilkmghby; hon. auditor, Mr. H. Hitchins. Introducing the new president to the members, Mr. Conder referred to Mr. J. A. Campbell's valued and expert assistance to the club whilst acting as green superintendent for the past five years, and presented him with a handsome leather bowl case, as a token of their appreciation. It was decided that the subscription for. the coming season be £4 4s. reducible to £3 15s if paid on or before Ist November next, the committee being empowered to impose, if necessary, a levy not exceeding £1 per member. Hearty approval was expressed regarding tho extended system of pennant matches played last season, and the delegate to the centre was instructed to urge a continuance of the system. Messrs. Hale, Earnshaw, and Ferkins were elected selectors for Saturday matches, and Messrs. J. Mackay, Hobbs, and Key selectors for Wednesday games. The two-life system applied to all last season's matches is to be abandoned, the club reverting to the principle of section play. "Percentage Fours" will again bo the chief. Saturday afternoon game, the social benefits being apparent to all. A motion to introduce Sunday play was defeated. Messrs. A. H. Clarke and J. Jenkins, members of the old committee, were heartily, thanked for their past services.
