LOWER HUTT FINANCES

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Regarding the inquiry made, by a correspondent in the "livening Post" I may state that the credit balance at 31st March, 1926, was £4488 Os Bd, arid at 31st Match, 1927, was £4174 17s Id. These figures are certified to by the Audit Department, which Department is not given to making errors when balances' are certified to as correct. The credit balance of £4973 17s lOd for the year 1927-28.is substantially correct, but has not as yet been audited by the Department. I have no doubt that the accounts may be a little confusing to your correspondent, but if he would- care to call at the Borough Council office the Town Clerk, I am sure, would give him any information lie may require on the subject. There is nothing that cannot be revealed and a ratepayer is entitled to, any information of this nature.—l am, etc., \ W. T. STRAND, Mayor. 28th May.
