Holly Lodge, No. 14, U.A.0.D., John-; sonville, held its quarterly meeting recently,' A.D. Bro. C. Beeves being hi the chair. The lodge was opened in mourning for the late Bro. William Fisher, one of its foundation members. Nomination of officers was taken.- Accounts for payment were passed as follow:—Sick pay, £2 12s; maternity allowance, £0; medical fees, £32. • Bros. Cooper and Johnson, P.D.P"., Visited the lodge 'on Royal Arch Chapter business. A pleasant evening was spent at the weekly session of Loyal Melrose Lodge, No. £3, 1.0. G.T., held last week, when the first birthday of the lodge wire celebrated. Members aud visitors retired to the suppcuri'oom after business, and foiiud- a fine banquet prepared. Toasts were proposed and responded to by members. Visitors present were Bro. Warren, C.T., Sister Warren, S.L.W., Sister Symington, sen.,, Bro. Harvey, Ass. Sec, Star of Newtown, and Mr. F. Cox. Tlfe Loyal Central Branch of the Grand United Order of Oddfellows held its usual meeting last Thursday, Bro. G., Morgan, N.G., presiding, and Bro. R. Norton, P.N.G., supervising. Bro. V. E. Bradstoek, Grand, Secretary, was a visitor. Three brothers were reported on the sick list, and payment was.passed accordingly.' A photograph of the late District Council was presented to the branch. Six new members were admitted into -. the Order. Bro. F. R. Smith, P.N.G., was nominated for a seat on the committee of management. The bi-monthly meeting of Loyal Wellington Past Grands Lodge, Manchester Unity, was held last week, Bro. R. Bell, P.G., presiding- over a fair attendance. The District Grand Master, Bro. R. Cook, was welcomed with lodge honours, and congratulated on his election to office. Bro. Johnson, P.G., opened a discussion on juvenile lodges, and a committee was set up to consider the possibilities aud make a report to next meeting. Bro. ■ Blair, P.D.G.M., explained the new rule with reference to the opening of branch lodges. Bro. Turner, P.D.G.M., gave an. interesting summary of the progress made in the revision of the scale of contributions and benefits since the foundation of the Manchester Unity in New Zealand. ■ • The fortnightly meeting of. Loyal Rose of the Valley Lodge, Manchester Unity, 1.0.0. F., was held last Thursday. The N.G., Sister Wickham, presided over a good attendance. The D.G.M., Bro. Cook, and his officers paid a visit, and were accorded lodge honours. P.O. Bro. Guise, and P.D.G.M. Bro. Turner explained the district hospital scheme.. D.D.G.M. Bro. Bell, spoke on: the question of propaganda. P.D.G.M. Bro. .., Blaii explained the a'cWantages to be gained by joining up with the Widows and Orphans Society, a sister society to the Manchester Unity. The fraternal side of. the Order was expounded by P.O. Bid. R. K. Couper. The following officers were elected, for the ensuing term:—N.G., Sister Wagner; V.G., 'Bro. M'Kenzie.
