L.M.S. DEMONSTRATION

''The commemoration of the life of James Chalmers, o£ New Guinea, in the Cambridge Terrace Congregational Church Jiist evening Was a fitting conclusion to the three.days' missiorfary demonstration arranged by the London Missionary Society s Wellington Auxiliary. A very large congregation was present. The Key. J-J. Johnson was director of the evening. lhe .key. E. R. Weeks gave the reading of Chalmers's life and death with great effect, and those present were, vividly impressed with the grandeur and nobility of "Tamate, his fearlessness,1 and his great desire to reach ever further afield, which led him at last to Goaribari, where he joined^-as Robert Louis Stevenson suit} —the "nnreturned brave." Tho story was interspersed with hymn and anthem, and a requiem was sung. Mr. Eric North as reciter entered into the true spirit of the occasion. At the conclusion of the story, the Rev. Harry Johnson gave the epilogue and pronounced the Benediction. The exhibition closed yesterday. The whole demonstration was a manifest success, ampjy justifying the committee in its venture.
