DERBY CANDIDATES

Apparently the Jockey Club's handicapper, Mr. T. F. Dawkins, considers last season's two-year-olds in England just an average lot, for there was ouly 71b between the first dozen in the Free Handicap. Last year's placed horses in the Derby were allotted the following weights in the Free Handicap:—Call Boy 8.9, and Kot Night and Shian Mor eacli 8.7. Th« Kree Handicap, which is run at Newmarket in October, rarely sees any of the topnotchers go to the post, but as the weights are the handicapper's opinion of next year's Derby candidates, they are of interest. The following were those weighted down to 8.7:—
