NEW ZEALAND BILLIARDS CHAMPIONSHIP.
The New Zealand amateur billiards championships opened at the Federal Club rooms last evening. The players were W. N. Tucker and J. Spencer, both of the Federal Club. The standard o£ play was not particularly high, and the biggest break o£ the evening was 39. The final score was: Tucker 606, Spencer 544. The best breaks were: Tucker, 29, 28, 24, 35, 32, 25, 25, 29, 24, 39, 28; Spencer, 31, 21, 25, 26, 26. To-night P. Devine (Petone W.M.C.) will meet E. V. Roberts (Auckland A.S.C.). Roberts is the. present champion.
