On^ Saturday ■ twenty-two members 'of the Wellington harriers braved the southerly wind, and ran in the six-mile test race conducted for the purpose of selecting teams to represent the dub in the Wellington provincial cross-country championships. The-race was one of the hardest 1 run by the # club for many years, the competitors having the wind and rain beating against them over the whole distance. , The race started from the Island Bay Surf Club sheds, and followed the road to, the Lyall Bay band rotunda, and' then back to the starting point. J. Shephard was the first man home, beating W. Whelan by about 20 yards. A. W. Burns and T. Mulcahy dead-heated for third place. ' - After the race Mr. W.
