_vAt a meeting of the council of tho Wellington Chamber of Commerce a report was submitted from the Publicity Committee of the, Chamber stating it was taking steps to discuss with representatives of the shipping, motor, and accommodation interests the suggestion of the Minister in Charge of Publicity that local committees might be formed in various centres to receive and assist tourists.
The committee also recommended that a personal canvass by members of business firms should be made during October for the purpose of augmenting the Wellington Publicity Fund, the pur-, p<me of which was to further the interests of the Capital City and to see that its importance as' a commercial and tenrist centre received due recognition' in every quarter of the globe. Toe council approved of these recommendations, also of a suggestion that the Minister in Charge of Publicity be asked to take advantage of the opportunity offering when the new Wellington broadcasting station (2TA) v opened to deliver a publicity address by,. wireless, This station, <' it was understood, would be the second largest in the world, and an address sent out' from Wellington should, serve the purposes of Dominion publicity very largely, especially in Australia, which is about 1J hours' difference in time from that of New Zealand.
