MOTHER'S CLAIM
COMPENSATION AWARDED
In February last Leslie John DaHon was working as a packer for the New Zealand Express Company, Some heavy •cales fell on his foot, the injury subsequently causing death through blood poisoning. ,
To-day in the Arbitration Court tbe deceased's mother, Sarah Dajton, of Upper Hutt, claimed £175 compensation, together with £29 medical and general expenses and any other relief as the Court might grant. On the Bench were M% Justice Frazer and Messrs. W, Scott and A. L. Monteith. Mr. P. J. O'Began appeared for Mrs. Daltoji, the New Zealand Express Company being represented by Mr. B. Kennedy. ■■..-.
The'faots of the case were not in dispute, the Court being asked to determine the degree of tho plaintiff's depen dency.
Beniarjting that such partial dependency cases are always difficult to adjust, the Court awarded. £75 as compensation, together with hospital and funeral expenses.
