With a. view to arranging further local unemployment relief works a conference is being held this afternoon be: tween the Minister of Labour, the' Minister of Public Works, the Commissioner of State Forests, -and the Mayor. > It is expected that an announcement will be made very shortly relative to tho commencement of the first new reliof works which : at the outset will probably give employment to about fifty men, the number being gradually extended until the full quota arranged has been absorbed. The first gangs will probably be taken on at the beginning of next week.
