PARAMOUNT THEATRE.

"The Volga Boatman" will be shown finally to-night at the Paramount Theatre. The story is one of Russia in revolt, revealing in a terrible light the madness of the peasants when fate gave them the upper hand over the nobility. A beautiful romance runs through the tragedy. The character of the Volga boatman is taken by William Boyd, while Elinor Fair shines to perfection as the charm ing Princess Vera. Appropriate music is rendered by the Paramount Orchestra, under Mr. E. R. Caulton. "DON JUAN." Since the Sixteenth Century Spauish monk, Gabriel Tellez, wrote "El Durlador de Sevilla" (The Deceiver of Seville), the central character, Don Juan, has gone through hundreds of transformations in drama, poetry, and opera, and now a big spectacular film production comes to the Paramount to-morrow. John Barrymore, who. plays "Don Juan," is possibly the one actor who could make convincingly real the romantic Bpell that has been cast over the world by the legend of this most fascinating of lovers. Appearing against the background of Rome of the Renaissance when the Borgias were in the saddle and life teemed with passionate desire, he loves, laughs, and fights as the very epitome of romantic dreams. The cast includes such notables as Mary Astor, Estelle Taylor, Helene Costello, and John Roche. The Orchestra Paramount will also present the "Famous Music Masters Series No. 1," a series of one-real films depicting the lives of the great music masters. The first of the series deals with the life of Mendelssohn, and the film is accompanied by special synchronised music by that master, which will be masterfully rendered by the orchestra under the direction of Robert Caulton. The box plans for the season are now open at the theatre booking office.
