WELLESLEY COLLEGE SPORTS
The distribution of trophies in'connection with the annul) 1 swimming and athletic sports of Wellesley College, together with awards mhd« by the Hoyal Life-Sav-ing Society, took place at the college last week.
lv presenting the trophies, Mr. Amos, the managing direcLor, stressed the importance of athletics, especially of swimming, as an educational factor, and in connection with the life-saving awards, stated that 51 boys had that year qualified for the bronze medallion and life-saving awards, iis Veil as .r>2 for distance-swim-ming certificate-:—a greater number than Uiat of any other secondary school in the Dominion. Two boys, moreover, had gained the teacher's certificate, a muchprized distinction. In addition to the winners of the championship medals, 5U boys were awarded certificates for successes at the athletic sports, and 33 for successes gained at the school Bwimming sports. On this occasion the newly-designed sports certificate was issued Jor the first time.
