TRAINING COLLEGES
STUDENTS AND THE'PRIME
MINISTER
.' The secretary of the Labour Party, referring to the reported interview with the Primo Minister, says:—
"The lovity with which the Primo Minister treats tho Government of the country is illustrated in his reference .to'the proposal to abolish the payment to students at* the Training Colleges. For a Prime Minister to say that one of his - colleagues 'has been flying a few kites' shows that he is not giving the subject of education the consideration which is essential. Education is too important a matter for the flying of. kites or any other Ministerial pastime —particularly when the future of our children is dependent pn tho game. The Government is cither serious or not on the proposed reductions. If it is serious, the Minister of Education adopts strange methods in playing fast and loose with the Educational Instittito Conference and the public generally. It ix quite clear that Mr. Wright proposes to 'economise' at tho expense of the training college students in such a manner that the whole education system will suffer."
