STEALING OVERCOATS
(Special to "The Evening Post.")
■AUCKLAND, This Day. When Edward John M'Kay (30) a steward off the Arawa, came before the Bench this morning on two charges of stealing overcoats worth £18, his swollen face indicated that he had got the worst of his fight with Detectiye M'Hugh, who recaptured him after a struggle in Symonds street yesterday, following M'Kay's escape from the Wharf Police Station,
The Chief Detective stated that the accused had sold the coats to a barman. M' Kay had no need to steal, because of the good .wages he received.
The Magistrate, Mr. Hunt, ssnt the accused to gaol for six months.
