LADIES' GOLF
FINALS AT NELSON

NELSON, 13th May. The Nelson provincial golf tournament concluded this afternoon in dull but calm weather. The chief interest centred in the final of the 'championship between Miss Acheson (the holder) and Miss Conway (Miramar). In the morning round the Nelson representative was 1 up after a game in which neither player ever held much advantage. In :the second half the game was 1 up at the seventh iv favour of Miss Acheson, who won the noxt four holes. The eleventh was halved, and the twelfth and thirteenth were won by Miss Acheson, leaving her 6 up and 5 to play. In the morning round the Miramar representative played a much better game than in the afternoon. Her iron shots cost her (several holes in the second round. Her driving all through: was' a little superior to Miss Acheson's, but the latter's approach shots were more consistent.
In the play-off for, the tie of the fuststroke handicap Miss Conway beat Mrs. Campbell-Smith with a net 75, and in the play-off in the tie for the junior division for the seqond stroke handicap, Mrs. Dodson beat Hiss Hair, with a net 82. In the second bogey handicap Miss Mackay won the senior match, 2 up, and Miss Bisley the junior, with C up. _^ The putting competition was won by Mrs. Waters, and the approaching and putting, by Mrs. Cock.
