HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL
The monthly meeting of the Hutt County Council was held last evening. Councillor S. Blackley presiding. Also present were: Councillors F. Brady W V. Dyer, J. Whiteman A. H. Mildenhall, D. R. Hoggard, S. G. Nathan, tUe county engineer (Mr. A. Benham), and the county clerk (Mr. A. Macpherson). The engineer's ■ report outlined the various roading work carried out during the past .month. Concerning the proposed widening of Taita Gorge, notice had been received from the Main Highways Board that no money was available. In const quence the work had not yet; been approved.
The following motion, notice of which had been given by Councillor Dyer, was adopted: "That the Lower Hutt Borough Council be written to, suggesting that a conference be held between that council and the Hutt County Council, to discuss, and, if possible, to come to an arrangement providing for uniformity of the conditions and requirements imposed by the respective local bodies respecting sub-di-visions, street formation, sewerage, and other amenities carried out in the vicinity of the borough county boundaries." A letter was received from the Public Works Department, stating that from 20th April the roads in the Government sub-di-vision at Paekakariki would become county roads.
