SALE OF AN ISLAND
Commenting on a Press despatch from Manila stating that negotiations are going on for the sale o£ the island of Fnga (one of the Philippine Islands) to a Japanese syndicate, it was pointed out in well-in-iormed quarters at Washington that the transfer of privately-owned land to foreigners did not change the nationality of the property, states a Reuters- message to the 'Daily Telegraph." If, however, the Philippine Government thought that any foreign Government was seeking a foothold in the Philippines, they could brmg proceedings to negative the sale.
