EVANS BAY CLUB RACES.

The racing programme of the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor-boat Club was commenced, on Saturday afternoon, the weather conditions, but for the absence of a stronger breeze, being all that could have been* desired. Events for all classes had been provided, but the launch race bad to be postponed qwing to several of the launches not being ready to race. Three keel _rs started in the main event, the Viola, the lolanthe, and the Windward, Mt the last-named boat retired after sailing round the course once. ■ The Viola wag home first by a big margin, and on the adjustment of handicaps she beat the lolanthe by over 2min. The race was over the new course, which started off the clubhouse and led to a mark off Shag Point, up to the Jerningham Buoy, back to Shag Point, up to Jerningham again, and then back to the clubhouse. I There .were six starters in the 18ft and ■ under class race, which was decided over the usual triangular course, from the j slip buoy to the Rocky Point buoy, over ito a-buoy off the bathing sheds, and back to the slip buoy, twice round. A fresherbreeze than the patchy southerly which existed would have made the race more interesting, but as it was there was a good finish. The Tui was first across the finishing line, but on the times being corrected was displaced by the Buna. Following are the corrected times and handicaps in the two races:—Keelers' Race.
