ROWING
THE STAR CLUB.
The Star Boating Club rowed the Ladies' Fours on Saturday. The following crews competed:—Cooke (str), Dennehy, Moffatt, Pryde; Comerford, M'Lean, Lucas, Lovell; Whitaker, Samson, Walpole, Wood; Haines, Foden, Bolton, M'Gibbon; Gray, Crease, Moffat., Peea; Brooker, Mullinr, Vance, Butler; Diehl, Hinkley, Mitchell, Waugh; Rees, Thomas, Bell, Russell; Shotlander, Lcask, Cudby, Haldane. In the first round, Whitaker beat Cooke, Comerford beat Haines, Diehl beat Brooker, Shotlander beat Rees, and Whitaker beat Gray. In the semi-finals, Comerford beat Whitaker, and Diehl beat Shotlander. The final between Diehl and Comerford was a hard race. Comerford had an early advantage, which he failed to keep, and he was overtaken by Diehl, who finished with half a length to spare.
