TO-DAY'S BUSINESS

'After formal business, the House of Eepresentatives to-day will give consideration to the second reading of several Government Bills. First on the list is the Waimakariri River Improvement Amendment Bill, which is followed by the Lights on Vehicles Amendment Bill. Third place on the list is occupied by the Land Laws Amendment Bill. At this Bill proposes sale of national endowment lands, the second reading debate is likely to be protracted and contentious. The Hauraki Plains Bill and the Local Elections and Polls Amendment Bill are also set down for second reading. If time permits, consideration will be given in Committee to the Education Amendment Bill, the Marriage Amendment Bill, and the Magistrates' Courts Amendment Bill. The Licensing Amendment Bill introduced yesterday occupies twelfth place on .the Order Paper, so that it is unlikely that it will be reached to-day.
