TO-DAY'S PROCEEDINGS

HOUSE OF REPEESENTATIVES,

The House of Representatives met at 2.30 p.m. Mr. J; Linklater (Manawatu) gave notice to ask the Minister of Agriculture whether he will take steps to have inspectors and instructors appointed-for the flax-milling industry, with the object of improving the grade of hemp from the mills.

Mr. V. H. Potter (Roskill) asked the Minister of Railways whether his attention had been drawn to the statement of officials of the Mount Eden Borough Council that railway hoardings were a menace to tho public safety at Mount Eden.

The Right Hon. J. G. Coates replied that he could not guarantee to have the hoardings removed at once, as Mr. Potter had asked, but he would certainly have inquiries made. He was afraid that many statements 'about hoardings were exaggerated. It was a matter of co-operation between the Railway Department and municipal councils. The" Department was quite willing to alter hoardings. (Proceeding.)
