NEWTOWN CLUB
'There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Newtowu Bowling Club on Wednesday evening. In the absence of the president, Mr. J. H. A. Laughton (vice-president) presided, and in presenting the report and balance-sheet he referred to the death of two old members, Messrs. C. Swiney and W. Wylie, and to the great loss sustained by the club. The balance-sheet showed the club to be in a fairly good position. It was decided to institute a club champion rink match, and also to appoint a sole selector for the year. The delegate to the centre is to be allowed to use hia own discretion in regard to the method of scoring in pennant matches. It was resolved to support the Daylight Saving Bill. The following officers were appointed for the year:—President, Mr. J. H. A. L.mghton; vice-president, Mr. P. Hunt; hon. secretary, Mr. G. Scott; hon. treasurer, Mr. S. C. Middlebrook; management committee, ilessrs. L. Warwick, P. Robbins, C. H. Barker, A. Priddle, E. Carman, A. Hodgson, C. Webster, W. M*Lay, and B. A. Guise. Mr. A. ,J. Pollock was appointed sole selector, and Messrs. J. W. Salmon and G. L. Eae hon. auditors. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to the retiring officers.
