EVANS BAY CLUB.
A splendid financial position was revealed at the annual meeting of the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor-Boat Club, held on Wednesday last, at which the president, Mr. J. Paterson, presided. The annual report stated that at the beginning of the year the club's financial position was considered, and at one stage the liquidation of the -clubhouse was mooted. With the enthusiasm' of members carrying through various projects to raise money, the balance on the clubhouse was paid off and the slip account was considerably reduced. Owfing to the difficulty of obtaining payment for previous season's slipping fees, the committee had decided that all future fees should be ■> paid before boats were brought up. A caretaker had been appointed to receive the fees. The cen-tre-borders displayed great keenness in the season's racing, but the keelers and motor-boats did not come up to the previous season's ' form. , The owner of Cooee was to be congratulated on being the first boat to win the American Cup, and the owner of Waurere on winning the Murphy Cup outright. Several boats had been lost to the club through departure for other parts, but others had been gained, notably Naomi, Trixie, Nautilus, and Eynin. The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. A. A. George; president, Mr. J. Paterson; commodore, Mr. A. Cheeseman; vice-commodore, Captain Wilkinson; rear-commodore, Mr. Simmonds; secretary, Mr. L. Miller; treasurer, Mr. J. C. Burbury; handicapper, Mr. Wagstafi; racing secretary, Mr. Elliott; auditor, Mr. J. L. Arcus; reporter, Mr. T. E. Mellor; judge and timekeeper, Mr. Wagstaff; racing committee, Messrs. C. Doile, Lindsay, W. Pycroft; general committee, Messrs. D. Pycroft, Roberts, 8. Ede, Elliott, Lindsay, Doile, F. Eowell, Johnston; vice-, presidents, Messrs. C. Odlin, M. Steeds, M. Eowell, W. J. Morpeth, F. Williams, i ' . Three delegates were appointed to attend the initial meeting of the newlyformed Boating Assocation. > The chairman congratulated the club on the splendid balance, which showed an excess of income 6ver expenditure of well over £200. The ladies were to be especially thanked for the part they had played. It was decided to keep subscriptions on the same basis as last year.
