BOWLING
THE THORNDON CLUB.
The thirty-first annual: meeting of the Thorndon- Bowling Club was held last evening, Mr. G. Johnson (president) being in the chair. . In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, which has been published in "The Post," the chairman said it was the first report since the club had become incorporated, but he thought for theYsake of the club that the next report should be called the thirty-second. It would l?e seen ■from the balance-sheet that' last year an overdraft waß shown of £50, and this year, it had been reduced by the "magnificent" sum of 6s. 3d. It was a step in the right direction. Expenses in.connection .with, the constitution had amounted to £37 7s 6d, and the result was that the club was out of pocket to the extent of £17, £20 being paid in legal expenses. Referring to the -green, the chairman pointed out that all the Wellington Centre championships had been played on the Thorndon green. The matches would not have been held on the green if it. had not been in good order.' The chairman .read a letter from the British bowlers, in which they expressed their appreciation of the treatment given them. I The subscriptions showed an increase of £10,1 entrance fees £6 loss, and wages £16 increase. The report and 'balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were returned unopposed:—President, Mr. G. Johnson; secretary, Mr. A. H. de Tourettes; auditor, Mr. H. J. King; committee, Messrs. H. J. Buck, W. T. Goodwin, A. E. Haywood, G. A. Pearson, W. Spencer, F. J. White. On the motion of Mr. V. Jensen, a hearty vote of thanks to last season's committee was carried.
