UPPER HUTT.

Mr. J. 0. Buff presided over a fair attendance of householders in the Upper Hutt schoolhouse. The secretary of the outgoing committee (Mr. R. Scholes) read the report and balance-sheet, the former showing satisfactory progress for the year, particularly in regard to the erection of the, new side school at Trentham, and the latter a credit ■balance of £20 11s 5d in the general account. Both were adopted. A report was received from the Hutt Valley^Schools' Committee Association to which Mr. P. Robertson is the local delegate, and approval was Riven the remit from the Wellington School Committees' Association in regard to distribution of free stationery to primary school children. Resolutions were carried desiring the Child : Welfare Department to set up a dental clinic at Upper Hutt and Rsking the Education Board to expedite the com-

Robertson moved that facilities. be given the school for the teaching of woodwork and home science, and this motion, together with, one moved by Mr. W. Greig, for the installation of electric light in-the school, was carried. As there were only five nominations received for the committee these five gentle-men-r-Messrs.. G. Ji. Gutbrie, W. Greig, G. Wale, B. L.Shfepherd, and J. 0. Duffwere declared elected, and the balance of the vacancies will be filled by the Education Board on the recommendation of the committee. Votes of thanks were passed to the outgoing committee, the headmaster (Mr. E. Marryatt),' and staff, and to the chair.
