GOOD CRICKETERS
HOBBS'S OPINION OF ENGLAND'S STRENGTH
EQUAL; TO THAT OF AUSTRALIA,
(United Freu Association.—Copyright.)

LONDON, 28th March,
J. B. Hobbs, in a lengthy criticism in the "Daily Dispatch," dealing with members of the Australian, team and prospects of the tour, says: "England is strong where Australia is weak in the quality of her medium-paced bowlers, which, after all, is generally the backbone of a team's bowling. We have as good cricketers^, man for man, in England, as they h,ave in Australia, and only the determination to win is required to prove it." He does not complain that Australian players, according to nowspaper articles, are permeated with / sufficient confidence to retain "The Ashes," but regrets that English writers are manifesting a spirit of carping criticism. The visitors are certainly a formidable side, ho says, but they are not the supqr-cricketers some people want to make them out. His considered opinion is,that English cricket at the preseint time is equal to Australian. '
