BRITAIN DRINKING LESS
WHISKY SHIPPED TO AMERICA.

The fact that the consumption of alcohol'in Britain has been 'considerably less since the war is revealed in the latest figures. There has been a reduction of 14,000,000 gallons of spirits and 7,000,000 barrels of beer. There has been an increase of 5,000,000 gallons of wines. The expenditure last year was £7 4a per head, or slightly more than £315,000,000 in all.
' It is estimated that 1,500,000 gallons of whisky were shipped from England to America, for which the Scottish distillers received £2,000,000. ■
