Harrop, of Cambridge University, and formerly of Canterbury College , New Zealand, has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy for research into the earliest relations between England and New Zealand to the eve of the Maori Wars, which has thrown a new light on the history of the New Zealand Company, and also on French and German colonising •projects. ,
