SANITARY INSPECTORS
IMPORTANT REMITS. CONSIDERED.

DTTNEDIN, 11th February. The sanitary inspectors' conference was concluded yesterday. A Wanganuiremit, "That in the opinion of this centre it is desirable that apprentices to the plumbing trade be allowed to sit for the Plumbers' Board examination at any time after three years' service, provided such, apprentices are recommended by their technical school instructor; if permitted to sit for the examination, and should they be successful, that they be allowed to do any kind of plumbing work for the master plumbers to/whom they are apprenticed, but that the certificate of registration be withheld until completion of apprenticeship," after considerable discussion was rejected.
' In reference' to a remit touching on the education and training for sanitary inspectors, the president, Mr. H. Paull, stated that the general council had recommended that a committee be set up to go into the subject more fully, and that the committee consists of Messrs. J. Gardner, W. Turness, W. Kershaw, W. Gaugh, E. C. Alexander, T. Tomlinson, H. Paull, and R. Bleakley. It was recommended that the association take the necessary steps to ensure to it the same facilities, in the conduct of examinations by the Royal Sanitary Insitnte, as has been accorded to, the Sanitary Inspectors' Association, England/ whereby the Eoyal Sanitary Institute ceases to be a separate examining body, and the Sanitary Inspectors' Examining Board merging to form one body, to examine candidates and grant the only certificate to be officially recognised. It was resolved that the conference approve.of;the council's recommendation. ,
