FRANKLY ALARMED
LORD BRADBURY ON THE LATEST DEVELOPMENT. (AtJSTRAIIAS-NEW ZBAIAND CAM A8S0CIATI08.) (Received 28th August, 2.45 p.m.) LONDON, 27th August. Lord Bradbury, Chairman of the Food Council, and adviser to the Government, interviewed by the Central News Agency, said :—"Frankly, I am alarmed at the new British, offer. Ido not think we ought to have accepted less than twenty millions a year. If there had been a spontaneous French offer of somewhat below twenty millions three would have been a lot to be said for acceptance, but the writing off 'of twothirds of the claims without improving the security of the other third is not' food business. • I think there is a anger of the British proposals being further whittled down before acceptance, or of being at present accepted with the avowed intention of demanding a._ reduction later. U Franco obtains similar terms in America she will cover all her debt payments if. only half of the Dawes annuities' are received. Britain on the contrary, will be several millions short of the covering required for her commitments to America."
