PLAGUE OF BUTTERFLIES
(Received 28th August, 2.15 p.m.) " ROME, 27th August. A plague of white butterflies has invaried A'Vrona and Mentone in clouds. Hoofs nnd pavumeiits are rovoi'prl :ind bouses invaded. Myriads of the butterflies gathered on and around, the Venice express, which was held ujj for two
hours. The passengers could not alight. The invasion lasted for four hours. It is thought that the butterflies were blown by a high wind from Africa.
