NAI NAI AND EPUNI ASSOCIATION

A well-attended meeting of ratepayers and residents of the Nai Nai and Epuni districts was held in the Epuni Schoolroom, on Tuesday night. Apologies, for absence were received from Mr. G. Mitchell and Mr. W. A. Cottle, who were unable through illness to attend the meeting. Mr. M. E. Denniston, who was voted to the chair, briefly mentioned a few needs of "the district, after which it was enthusiastically decided to form an association, to be called the "Nai Nai and Epuni Ratepayers' and Progress Association," the objects of which are to be the advancement of the district in general and all matters incidental thereto.

Mr. 0. T. Natusch, president of the Belraonfc Progressive Association, 1 kindly attended and spoke on the benefits derived from the formation, of the kindred association on the opposite side of the Valley. Mr. W. C. Dyer also spoke in support of the formation of the association.

A short discussion then followed as to the needs of the district, after which the meeting' then proceeded to the election of officers, which resulted as' follows : President, Mr. G. Mitchell; vicepresidents, Dr. G. E. Anson, Messrs. D. Balls, M. JE. Denniston, C. de B. Brandon, W. C. Dyer, and G. G. G. Watson; committee, Messrs. J. V. Black, R Barfosh, VV. S. Brice, K. S. Bargh, W A. Cottle, I. G. Frandi, P. DE. Hodgkins, D. Lee, J. E. Fitzgerald, E. E. Matthews, and A. E. Roots, together with the president and vice-presidents, ex officio; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. K. S. Bargh.
