(81 TWiBaRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, 17th August. The Earl of Stradbroke, Governor of Victoria, arrived from Rotorua to-day. " This haa been purely -a holiday trip," he said to-night. -" I wanted, to see New Zealand before my term of office was up, and a good opportunity, presented itself in the visit of the American fleet to the Dominion. '. The tour luv3 been too hurried to form any definite opinions about the country, but I might say I was interested and well' pleased with all I saw." The Earl, who owns about 10,000 acres in England, said he thought the sheep lands in Hawkes Bay were very fine, and he also referred to the rich dairying lands near Palmerston North. .It was- a strange sight to him to Bee co many small holdings", and Be was further surprised to observe so many different bfeeds of cattle grazing together. Lord Stradbroke sailed by the Aoraiigi to-night for Sydney.
