Te Aute College retained the Moascar Onp against a plucky team of much lighter boya from Wha'ngarei High School, the holders winning by 40 points to 8. The visitors had the advantage of the elements in the first half and led at that stage by 8 pointß to 6. Heavy rain fell during the closing stages of the match, which was played as a curtainraiser to the JRanfurly Shield match between Hawkes Bay and Southland.
