The stream of people through "the Guards' Chapel passing the coffin was continuous until i o'clock, when a- procession, headed by Life Guards and Hussars in full dress uniform, and including detachments from five Guards regiments, earned tho coffin to Westminster Abbey, where an impressive servico was held. Earl Haig represented the King, and Mr. Baldwin, the Earl of Balfour, and Mr. Winston Churchill represented tho Cabinet. Every nation of the Allies was represented. Those present included Sir John Baird, the new Australian ■Governor-General, who went to France with the Earl of Ypres as soon as the war broke out, and was with him in the Mons retreat. From the Abbey, tho cavalcade passed slowly to Victoria. Station, through a dense crowd of bareheaded onlookers, fifteen to twenty deep, many of them wearing service medals. The bent figure of Marshal Joffre was seen on the right hand of tho gun carriage.
