AN EVEN GAME.
There was very Kttle difference between Wesley and Petone, who met on No. 7 ground at Karon Park. The final score, 2 goals to 1 in favour of Weslev, fairy accurately summed up the respective merits of the two teams. Petone were not by any means at their best., and missed several excellent opportunities of improving their score. There were weaks point in the play of both teams, but nevertheless (hey' gave a creditable exhibition, of hockoy. Wesley combined better than their opponents, and this, in a large measure, was no doubt responsible for their victory. Wesley were first to score, Leaman,' inside left, netting just after the start. F. Lindop equalised for Petone before half time wifth a shot from close in. In the second half play veered from one twen-ty-five to the other. An opportunity of scoring was afforded Stokes (Wesley), which he took full advantage of, beating Cochrane, th e Petone 'keeper, with a good low shot, and giving victory to his team by two goals to one. Mr! H. Thomas was the referee.
