KARORI DEFEAT 'VARSITY.

Varsity ware right off their game in their clash with Karori, and displayed nous of the splendid form they showed in their tussle with Wellington the previous week. True, the Greens were unlucky in not scoring on several occasions, but nevertheless they were nctfc the equal of the Karori men on the day's play. The Karori vanguard combined beautifully and their sweeping passing rushes with the line keeping good control of the ball were spectacular and always had the Collegians in difficulties. Lloyd, on the left wing for Karori, played a brilliant game, and was ever a thorn in the 'Varsity side. 'Varsity attacked strongly for "the first few minutes after the "bully off," and Paul narrowly missed scoring. Once into their stride, however, the Black forwards had the 'Varsity men defending all they knew. Moore had bad luck in not netting for Karori from a good opening, but shortly after that Knowles succeeded in driving the ball past the 'Varsity goalie to score a good goal. At halftime the score remained unaltered. Early in the second half T. Watchman, who was playing a heady game on the left wing, nqtted for Karori. From then on it was clearly seen that 'Varsity,, although they were fighting hard, wore a beaten team. Both Knowles and then Watchman each scored again for Karori in quick time. 'Varsity battled on, and from a meleo in front of (the Karori pool, just before "time" soundod, Pen-in (Karori). kicked the ball into the net and gave the Greens their only goal, making the final score read: Karori 4, 'Varsity 1.
