ASSOCIATION
A SURPRISE VICTORY
MARIST ACCOUNT FOR
HOSPITAL
V.M.C.A. WIN AGAIN,
The element of surprise was not lacking in Association football games on Saturday afternoon. Marist, after fighting hard for a draw with Institute on the previous Saturday, went out to Porirua and defeated the strong Hospital eleven by the odd goal in three. The contest was a spirited one, and honours were easy until the final minute, of the game, when some fine combined work by the Marist forwards resulted in Costollo scoring the deciding goal. Thistle and Institute played a drawn game at Newtown Park, the latter scoring within the last ten minutes. The result was a fair indication of the run of the play, as the teams were evenly matched in all departments of the game. V.M.C.A. continued their record of victories by defeating Diamonds in a decisive manner by 3 goals to nil, and Scottish Wanderers defeated Waterside by 3 goals to 1. Results at a glance are as follow :— Senior A. V.M.C.A. 3, Diamonds 0. Marist 2, Hospital 1. . Institute 1, Thistle 1. Scottish Wanderers 3, Watersiders 1. Senior B. V.M.C.A. 0 3. V.M.C.A. B 1.
