BROOKLYN CLUB.

On Saturday last the Brooklyn Club decided the novice handicap at Miramar. The. course was from the terminus, up the road round the Chinamen's gardens, "and down to the gasworks. Here it branched along the road to the left, and so to the tram line, back to the terminus, the distance being approximately two miles and a half. There were seven entries, but only five started, and the scratch man, A. Cornish, was asked to give away handicaps up to 55 seconds. 0. Robinson was on the iimit, but did not retain it long, Parker replacing him. Robinson, however, hung to the latter all the distance until about 100 yards from home, when he put in a really solid sprint which carried him in ton yards ahead of Parker. Berry also .unwound a good sprint over the final 150 yards, and only just failed to beat Parker for second place. W. Mills developed a bad stitch at the gasworks, and had to temporarily retire, while Cornish was worried with the same.trouble. Result: O. Robinson (55sec), Ist; J. Parker (50sec), 2nd; F. Berry (30sec), 3rd. Time, 17min 52sec. Fastest time: If. Berry, 17min 57sec. Next week's run will be at the Hutt, and will tako the form of a, combined run with the Iliitt Club.
