The railway services are held up by the slips and washouts. . A big slip at the southern end- of the Porootarao Tun-, nel.has'"blocked the connection between Te .Kuiti and .Taumarunui. Itjs expected that this slip will be cleared by noon to-day..-Slips on the Main Trunk
at Taringamotu and washouts between IWaimiha and Ongarue held the service up "for twenty-four hours. The line south of Taumarunui is also blocked, and is not expected to be open until late On Sunday. There is a big subsidence of .the., line at Piriaka. Passengers from the trains from the North were brought into Taumarunui by motor-bus, and passengers .from. the South went by motor to Piriaka, and were picked up. by the south-bound train there. This afternoon passengers for the South will leave Taumaruriui and tranship over the washout at Piriaka to the South train. The same will be done with passengers for the North. There will be no train on the Olvahukura-Ohura line until the middle of next week, owing to slips and washouts. '■:■•'■ •
