DOMINIONS AND HOME PRODUCTS
CO-ORDINATING TRADE RELATIONS,
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPXRIGHT.) (AUSTRALUN-KEW ZEALAND CABLE' ASSOCIATION (Received 23rd May,; 12;30 p.m.) LONDON, 22nd May. The 'Australian Press Agency is authoritatively" informed thattthe Economic Conference is confronted with the supreme difficulty of reconciling conflicting inter-Imperial interests in the allocation of the proposed million subsidy to Dominions'- products. The conference was instructed to consider the interests of Dominions' producers in relation to the Home producers, both in' relation .to, the interests of the consumer. The Dominions producers' conterid that under the present system they receive rid better' treatment than foreigners, while tho Home producers declare that the proposed preferential treatment to the Dominions means adverse differential treatment to Homo producers. The conference's problem is practically this : How best to co-ordinate tho interests of the Dominions and the Homo producers in co-operation against foreigners without working to the disadvantage of the consumer. As yet they have not- been able to find a solution. ... A similar problem was presented to the Council of Agriculture, at ' which Lord Stachie moved a resolution opposing the granting of a million pounds to enable tho Dominions to market their products in Britain to tho detriment of tho British farmer. The Minister of Agriculture (Sir. E. F. L. Wood) said that the object should be to promote a liaison of Imperial and Home prbduc-" ers, so as to give both an advantage- ■ over the foreigner. The motion was postponed.
