Elder addressed the Empire- Day breakfast, organised by the Daughters of the British Empire. He outlined the history of Australia, and the gradual development of the most cordial relationship between Australia aud Britain. Ho strongly stressed the mutual friendship of Australia and America, and said that America and Australia, were both young countries, and they had been formed and moulded by the pioneer blood of a common ancestry. Buthwera inspired by similar motives, and both' were imbued with a resolvo and determination to live freer lives under a Constitution of their own making, and under their own control.; In this and in other regards Americans and' Australians were of extraordinary eirailaritiv-'.
